Hello everyone! For those of you who know me I just wanted you to know I made it through with my family. We live on the North shore of Lake Pontchatrain in St. Tammany Parish. We took a pretty bad hit but we did not get the flood waters New Orleans got. It is worse there than what you see on the news. It took me a day and a half to cut the trees out of my road to get out to what was left of civilazation and we (law enforcement) have been on the clock since. The out pouring of support from the law enforcement community and everyone else has been overwhelming and is greatly appriciated. Ralph if you have an email address on Rhys Flynn and Glynn LeBlanc could you send it to beneshleman@yahoo.com . I think both are members of the Polygraph Place. Rhys has been taking care of my family, but I can't contact anyone as we have no phones for awhile. I found half of one side of my family and I am trying to locate the other half, but I'm cut off here. I don't know if they made it out or not. Once again thanks to all who are helping and remember all the people who are worse off than me in your prayers. BenIP: Logged |

Hey Ben,So glad to hear from you. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I was out of town for the past three days. I thought about you guys the first time I heard about Katrina and I'm sure glad you are allright. I just sent an email with Rhys and Glenn's email addresses. I hope they are current and helpful. Let me know if you need anything at all. In fact, if you need something announced in the newsletter that could be helpful to LE there, let me know and I will do it. ------------------ Ralph Hilliard PolygraphPlace Owner & Operator http://www.polygraphplace.com

Hey Everyone,Ted called me with what I thought was a good idea. Everyone can easily contribute and donate to the big relief organizations, but we thought we might be able to make a more specific local impact for some of our own located in the damaged areas. I'm waiting to hear back from Ben, who started this post, but in the meantime, if you know of anyone in the local areas who could receive and distribute a local contribution, I thought we could brainstorm that idea here over the next few days here. ------------------ Ralph Hilliard PolygraphPlace Owner & Operator http://www.polygraphplace.com

I got this email today from the Attorney General's Office here in Maine. It might be what eveybody's talking about:OFFICERS NEED IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE DARE America has received an urgent email request for assistance from officers in Louisiana and Mississippi. Officers in Mississippi and Louisiana need work pants (BDUs, jeans, etc), boots, shoes, shirts,t-shirts and underwear. Both men and women officers have a need for this gear. Send to: Madison Co. Sheriff's Dept. Attn: Sheriff Toby Trowbridge Jr. 2941 Hwy 51 South Canton, MS 39046 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Attn: Commander Bobby Robinson 5400 East Broad Street Lake Charles, LA 70615 Excerpt of email, "along the coast they have sent word through NCIC that clothing is needed for the officers who live there and cannot leave but yet have no homes, no clothes, nothing.. If you know of someplace (even officers that have used work clothing that could donate pants (BDUs, jeans, etc), boots, shoes, shirts, etc........" \

Barry is correct. We are in need of work clothing. Alot of became lumber jacks the first week of this incident and have gone through our boots and BDU's. We will take anything you can come up with but for St. Tammant parish blue BDU's are the color. We don't have mail service yet but the street address of the command center is 2070 Collins Blvd., Covington, La. 70433. Thanks for the support and anything you can do is appreciated. BenIP: Logged |

I just found a place on line that is selling new Jerrseys brand 100% cotton heavy weight T-shirts. These are first quality and not seconds. For $149.99 they will ship 100 t's anywhere in the US and this includes shipping. On Ebay, the company is called T-Shirt Warehouse. I will be shipping 100 to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office today. Ted Ted [This message has been edited by Ted Todd (edited 09-08-2005).] IP: Logged |

Ben,Good to hear from you. My first time on the site since the storm and glad to hear you made it through OK. If you need it, I may have some housing your family can stay in until you get up and running. I did talk to Rys today and he told me you may have a housing issue for some relatives. If you need some help with anything, please let me know. We are here to help and our community is back to normal, except for the extra 10K people here. Glynn IP: Logged |

I am overwhelmed by your generosity. Thank all of you for your offers. I have secured my family in housing out of the zone. I am presently working in an area that was hit dead on and the devastation is complete. I can only relate it to the movies you see on Discovery in reference to the bombing of England. We are doing fine as a department as of now. If any of you wish to donate or help in other ways I think the focus of the nation needs to shift to Mississippi now. They should have been recieving help a long time ago. It will take 5-10 years to rebuild this area and probably longer in Mississippi. Thank you all again. BenIP: Logged |
